Google to pay smaller fine in case of truce with Russian antitrust

MOSCOW, Jun 9 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service does not rule an amicable settlement with Google and could impose a smaller fine, in this case, but the U.S. company has made no such proposal, a spokesperson for the authority said Thursday.

“Nobody in Google has turned to us, but we still see some chances. There will be a fine, but its amount can be revised,” the spokesperson said.

The antitrust service has already delayed hearings to decide on the amount of fine for Google, which was found guilty of abusing its dominant position on the market of preinstalled application stores, several times.

The service’s Director Igor Artemyev said Wednesday that Google might be getting ready for a truce. The U.S. company said then that it is in constant dialogue with the country’s authorities.
